Larger yachts. New infrastructure. New possibilities.
For many years, Vilamoura Marina has been one of the Algarve’s most recognisable places. A place for boats, restaurants, golf weekends, summer evenings and life by the water. But Vilamoura is entering another chapter. The marina is evolving and the yachts arriving here are changing. The infrastructure around them is changing too. And with that comes an interesting question:
What could Vilamoura become for yacht owners in the years ahead?
AUREA POÉ MAR was created in Vilamoura, not simply because there is a marina here, but because we believe this part of Portugal deserves to be looked at more closely from a yachting perspective. There is the obvious side of the Algarve. The sunshine. The beaches. The golf courses. The restaurants. The Atlantic coastline. But there is another side that becomes visible when you spend time here. Early mornings when the marina is almost silent. Fishing boats returning to Quarteira. A sunny September afternoon when most of Europe already feels like autumn. The drive from Faro Airport that takes less time than many transfers between major cities. The ability to step off a yacht and walk to dinner, play a round of golf, buy groceries at a supermarket or enjoy a day at the beach.
These details matter because choosing where to keep a yacht is rarely only about the berth. It is about everything around it.
How easy is it to reach?
What happens when something needs to be repaired?
Where can guests stay?
What is life like outside July and August?
Where can you cruise for the weekend?
And perhaps most importantly, does the place make yacht ownership easier and more enjoyable?
Those are the kinds of questions we want to answer through Vilamoura Moments. Some articles will look closely at yachting and the changes taking place around the marina. Others will take us further into the Algarve. We will talk about access, cruising, local services, seasonality and practical ownership. But we will also talk about restaurants, golf, travel, people, small places worth knowing and the everyday moments that make living around a yacht here different.
This is not intended to be a brochure for Vilamoura. There are things that work extremely well here, and things that still need to develop. We want to look at both. Because the interesting story is not that Vilamoura is already everything it could become. The interesting story is that it is changing. And we are here to watch that change from close enough to understand what it means.
From the marina. From the water. From the Algarve.
Welcome to Vilamoura Moments. Welcome aboard.
